I really enjoyed this place, we live pretty close to this mom and pop shop and haven't had the chance to stop in here; we finally tried it on saturday and we were not disappointed.
My husband got the chicken katsu, and hamburger steak. I got the shoyu chicken and hamburger curry. The chicken katsu was delicious although it was cold, and it was still very tasty. The chicken shoyu was also delicious and the meat was falling off the bone. This place really felt like a family place and the food felt like "home made" comfort food.
The interior of this little place is cozy with only a couple of tables, I  think that's because most people get the food to-go but we sat down and enjoyed our meal.
We will definitely be back and recommend this place!

A friend of mine shared that this lil mom and pop shop serves the best comfort food. I think it's a fusion of Chinese and Japanese food. I for one was craving something greasy and satisfying lol. Not really in the healthy department. There was one other person in the shop when we entered.

My eyes widened with delight when I saw some of the food offerings. I automatically knew I needed to have chicken katsu. I opted for a mini plate, and the young girl asked me what starch I would like to accompany my meal. I decided to have the chow fun as I do enjoy the thick glutinous noodles.

There were other options that were priced differently such as the shrimp tempura to add onto to the plate. I ordered two, and within a couple minutes it was packed into the styrofoam container ready to be eaten.

The first taste of the katsu was that it was a mixture  of lukewarm to cold. The batter of the katsu was not crunchy, but flimsy with some hard chicken pieces in my first bite. The sauce was a nice touch giving it flavor. The shrimp tempura exterior was soft and lukewarm with just tempura and bits of shrimp crushed to itty bitty pieces. I'm not sure I would order this again. The chow fun was bland which was disappointing.

Maybe I came on a off day. I'll try again :)

I mourned the loss of Honda Okazya. For those of us who grew up in the Liliha Nu'uanu area will understand. I'm still looking for a replacement. Unfortunately, Nu'uanu Okazuya is only fair.

The cone sushi and butterfish were good. However, the nori chicken tasted sour. The gobo has to much red pepper and too little flavor. The nishime was only okay. The chow fun was flavorless and pasty.

So far, Fukuya by Pucks Alley is the only place worth going. Of course, no one beats Honda ,

So many good choices here it's hard to decide! They even have cheap breakfast bento. I live the many different dishes for their okazuya. Really good homemade, tasty, big portions. Prices are reasonable too! So worth a stop here. Come and eat!

A quaint "hole in the wall" that does not disappoint. First time to the renovated Okazuya which is open on Sundays! Over 60 choices of Okazuya favorites you can expect. The food was excellent, flavorful and not overtly salty or sweet which can sometimes happen with Okazuya items.
Was not able to try all items but the shoyu pork was tender and tasty as well as the other items pictured.
Most probably grab and go as most Okazuya places are designed however if you have time to eat in, there are a few tables with comfy homelike chairs in the air conditioned establishment. This is a clean, cute place for nice local comfort food. They also take credit/debit cards and offer cold canned beverages.
During our visit there was a constant flow of local customers; a sure indication of the popularity of this local eatery.
Our compliments to the chef and owners!
